Margarita
The "Bull" runs a Humminbird 1197C imaging system with data recording option. The three reefs in this image were derived from 2 hours of sonar recordings at one second intervals. Several thousand data points were used to generate this map. The three reefs are part of the "Margarita" complex. The complex includes two other large structures just out of view, they will be mapped later. Life is prolific here, scallops adorn the rocks, clouds of seabass hover above the reefs, and huge ling cod can be found tucked away in rocky holes and crevices. Personal experience can recall a 20 pound, 26 pound, and 42 pound ling taken from this area. We love to sightsee, but we really love to take big fish. The larger reef on the lower right has a lingcod crack at 66 feet. The crack is about 8 feet long and big ling just line up inside. You'll need a good light to see them though, the crack is deep and they like to sit back in the blackness looking out. |
